Disney buy Lucas Films for £2.5 Billion

Yesterday it was announced that Disney would pay $4.05 Billion (£2.5 Billion) for Lucas Films and they will be making a Star Wars Sequel (Star Wars 7)
Lucas has already said that he will not have a massive day to day input on the fourth coming Star Wars sequel but is said to have done the treatments for the film but he won't produce or direct it which could be good for the right visionary person to move the franchise forward and figures crossed get rid of Jar Jar Binks.
Now lots of Uber Fans are not going to be happy with Disney taking this on with the main reason being
CEO of Disney Bob Iger has announced that the sequel will be all brand new material which will upset many fans hoping that the next film will be The Heir to the Empire from the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. This novel carries on the story after Return of the Jedi and introduces us to Mara Jade the emperors personal assassin and Grand Admiral Thrawn the Heir to the by now rudder less Empire.
Star Wars Fans will know there is a massive expanded universe for Star Wars but the Timothy Zahn trilogy would be a great starting point to do a sequel but sadly it is not meant to be.

The other thing that may pee off  fans is the Disney effect, are we now going to get a star war that is all sugar and spice where there is no swearing no scenes of death and every film with have a moral message?
If so then we will see no more body part chopped off or Han Solo shooting Gueedo under the table and defo no more slave girl leia in the gold bikini.
We all know the only reason Disney have brought Lucas Films is because Disney see dollar signs all over it and the only people who will suffer if they bodge it will be the fans so if Bob Iger is reading don't fluff it up or you are going to ruining a legacy.

One for all the Walking Dead fans

Arrow

Last Night saw the Premier of Arrow on sky one. Base on the DC Comics Green Arrow.
Now again if you haven't seen it then this post may contain spoilers so be warned.
From the opening couple of minutes you can tell that this Oliver Queen is going to be darker then the comic book version.
Queen is Ship wrecked on an island in the North China Sea after his fathers boat is sunk in a storm. The start see's him rescued by fishermen by using an flaming arrow to start a bonfire.
Queen is then back in the world so to say but it is a world different from the one he left 5 years ago.
Determined to clean up his city he starts by taking down one of  the cities crime boss by stealing his money and depositing in in the banks of people he has wronged.
I have always been interested in the Green Arrow comic as when I was a kid he was the back up story for my favorite book of all time the Batman, Now this Green Arrow is a lot darker then I remember but that's not a bad thing?
I think that this is a good start for green arrow and I am interested to see how thing move on from here but I am hoping that it doesn't turn into another smallville or even the great but short lived Birds of Prey.

All in all IF DC Comics are going to match Marvels Avengers Assemble with the Justice League of America I don't think Oliver Queen will make the roll call just yet.
Oh and one last thing..... Did we see Deathstrokes mask in the first couple of minutes??? We will have to wait and see....

The Walking Dead

Friday Night saw the return of The Walking Dead to British TV screens on FX, with the 1st episode of the 3rd season. Now before I go any further there may be Spoilers in this post if you have not seen it yet be warned.
Last season ended with the farm being over run, Rick and the clan fleeing from a massive heard of walkers. They were out of gas, food and ammo. In the first episode of season 3 Rick and gang are still on the run from the heard. Scavenging for what ever thy can find! whilst on the search Rick comes across a prison and true to the comics series the gang decide to make it there home.
I came late to the party with the comic's and started reading when they re-released the story in the Walking Dead Weekly format. Enjoying the comics up to volume 8 of the collected books.
Whilst watching the 1st and 2nd series of the TV show I am majorly hooked. The only thing that half bugs me with the TV series is the killing off of characters in a different order to the book At the start of the 2nd season we see Sophia turn into a walker before they get to the prison only then to see Dale killed off at the end. Which is a shame as in the book he is one of the major character's in the prison story line.
Knowing what happens in the book with these characters is making the TV series both head scratching and also interesting as to how this TV series is going to play out.
The Two major things that I can't wait to see evolve is the introduction of both Michonne and the Governor.
Michonne was first seen in the last couple of minutes of the last episode of the 2nd season, in which she came out of the woods leading her 2 amputee walkers and saving Andrea from a bunch of loose walkers. In the 1st episode of season 3 we only see a little bit of her, but we do find out that she is a bit kick ass with the sword she carries.
As for the Governor not sure how he will work as they can't make him as evil on TV as he is in the books... can they?
I mean if they are playing this series as close to the books as we would like then SURELY they can't show what he does to Michonne.... can they?

One thing is for sure I will be sitting on my sofa at 22:00 every Friday night from now till the series finish's to see if it ends with the dramatic conclusion that the prison story line concludes with in the book.
